Richard Gregory appeared 1764 -Halifax/Mecklenburg Cos., VA (often referred to as Richard W. Gregory) none have participated in YDNA, yet, to my knowledge/jgs (d.by 1817 Washington Co., KY; Descendants note: DNA participant from this line is needed to complete the Gregorys of western Mecklenburg Co., VA.

Thomas Gregory Sr appeared 1767* of later Chatham, Co., NC/SmithCo., TN * (Thomas of Chatham Co., NC, Joseph of Mecklenburg Co., VA & William Gregory of Pittsylvania Co., VA match all 37 markers)

William Gregory of Mecklenburg Co., VA appeared 1782; his mother Ziner [Lena] Gregory 1763 - no male Gregory descendants of this line

* William Gregory b.c.1764 Pittsylvania Co., VA (kit #67166) of whom I do not have a timeline, matches 37 markers with Joseph Gregory Sr of Mecklenburg Co., VA and with Thomas Gregory Sr of Chatham Co., NC/Smith Co., TN.

Decendants note: This Gregory line needs to be represented in the DNA GREGORY PROJECT.
I have not researched the Lower Mecklenburg Co., VA Gregorys. Among the Lower (eastern) Mecklenburg Gregorys are the following households on the 1840 Census:  John W. Gregory; Rich. C. Gregory, Jr.;  Rich. C. Gregory, Sr.; and Francis R. Gregory.  I am not aware if any male Gregory descendants of these lines have participated in a Gregory YDNA study/jgs Miscellaneous items of these Gregorys will be placed in Lower Mecklenburg Gregorys..
