Obits and Tidbits 1885 - 1899

Varrilla A. Reed was born 26 November 1849 at Hickman, Kentucky and died
10 Feb 1899.  As an infant she moved here with her parents to
McLeansboro, Illinois.  Soon afterwards her father died and at the age
of 3 she moved with her mother to Benton where she married Charles Clark
(apparently the mother is the one who married Clark).  Mrs. Reed's
maiden name was Laswell but she was known by many as Varrilla Clark.  On
14 December 1865, at the age of 16, she married John B Reed.  They had
11 children, six survive, namely: Anna L, Wiliam A, John A, James A,
Lulu and Nellie Reed, the yongest being 11 years old.  She also leaves
her husband, and 1 grandchild, a child of William A, who is her only
married child.  At age 14 she united with the M. E. Church.  Burial at
the new cemetery.
