Saturday night
The evening meal will not be a typical Australian
meal. Instead it will be a simple repast called Chapel Tea. The history of
this is that in days past, the women of a Cornish mining community would
congregate at the Wesleyan Chapel on Sunday
evenings, and prepare a traditional meal of Cornish pasty with supporting side
dishes, a dessert, and tea.
The mining community would then sit and eat together
for the Sunday Chapel Tea. Thus the church became the centre of social
activities for the community, as well as the place of spiritual worship
