Jack Sidmon class of
1950, wrote me after the 2006 reunion, we grew up as
neighbors in Wellston, and had a lot of catching up to
do. After a whole bunch of emails and phone calls this
past year, he finally sent me one of his CDs, "It's
Country Time", twenty classic country and western songs.
This is what he wrote inside the cover of the CD
he sent: "I first heard country music when I was in
high school. Occasionally a classmate named Joe
Carpenter was asked to play his guitar and sing on the
public address system. I knew then that I would someday
be a country singer. I followed that dream and have
been involved in country music since I was in my
teens. Later in life I worked with Hee-Haw for twenty
three years. I assisted the producer, and when needed, I
would be filmed on the set. I hope that this album will
bring happy memories from the past and you will find it
enjoyable. May God richly bless you as he has me."
June and I, enjoyed listening to his songs, and we
felt his classmates and friends might like to hear one
of his songs from this CD. After more phone calls and
arm twistings, he allowed me to take one song off the
album, and put a few pictures to it for this small
video. The song I picked covers the passage of time
since we were students a Wellston High.
It is the classic " Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" You will
recognize many of the stars mentioned in the song.
