Internet Explorer 3.0 will use Mplayer to play .MID or .MIDI files. Netscape 2.0 needs to have a "plugin". Midigate and Crescendo are both acceptable. The author prefers the latter since there is a 16 bit version for Windows 3.1 and a 32 bit version for Windows 95. Although it is possible to create html code which will play under both Netscape and Microsoft browsers the author prefers to create separate versions for aesthetic reasons.
