Filipow Up Close

     If you do a search for Filipow, Poland on the Internet, you normally get a map with red dot for the town of Filipow.  This map showing the Filipow parish area is just a small section originally from a land contour map created in 1931.  Many of the smaller village and hamlet names appearing here no longer exist today.  But they did exist in the 1800's and correspond to Filipow church records of that time period.  Note the four areas marked Filipow underlined in red.  These might be the four corners of the original estate of Filipow created by King Zigmunt August in 1562.  Filipow received a municipal Charter in 1570.
