Central
School -
Built in
1911
|
|
In
May of 1911 the
first class was
graduated from
Wellston High
School. The class
was composed of
Mathilda Handlon,
Janet Purves, Ruth
Christine, and
Willis Link.
Mathilda Handlon was
the first student to
recieve a diploma,
and today ( 1936)
she
is a teacher in
Central School.
The high school at
that time occupied
one room in the
Central building.
The teacher was Miss
Lucie Rudasill. The
school was equipped
with a "his and
hers" out houses.

The present Wellston

has nineteen class
rooms, and a faculty
of twenty members.
Four hundred
thirty-two pupils
have received their
diplomas. 1936
marks a quarter of a
century of undaunted
progress in the
history of our
school.

The phone number
1-800-FREE-411
offers free
directory assistance
service. One of the
many changes that
has taken place in
the telephone
industry phone
companies once
generally provided
their local
customers wit free
directory
assistance. In most
cases telephone
customers are now
charged a fee
(typically $1.00 or
more) for each
directory assistance
call. Despite the
charges, US
consumers continue
to avail themselves
of the 411 directory
assistance
service, placing
about 6 billion such
calls per year.
Now,
however, an outfit
called Jingle
Networks is
providing an
alternative
directory assistance
service - and it's
FREE.
Users who call the
toll-free number can
navigate a nifty
automated voice
recognition system
that ask for a
location (city and
state), type of
listing (Business,
government, or
residential), and
name. Once the
service has located
an entry for the
requested number, it
reads the
information aloud
and offers the
caller the option of
connecting to the
number by pressing a
single number on his
telephone keypad. It
works sort of like
commercial radio or
television -
businesses pay to
sponsor it in
exchange for
presenting their
advertisements to
customer. Rest of

In
one of the Flashlights someone asked
if anyone had pictures of the
admiral. I have two - one in the
spring the other in the fall. We'd
go twice a year. As I grew
older we use to go on the night
dance cruise where I believe Bob
Kuban played. There were four ladies
Rooms named after movie stars. Does anyone remember what
those names were?

Miss Esther E. Niles - 1908 -

1996 Photo.
Marilyn Jean and Miss Esther

Marilyn Jean Cederholm '49
|
The teacher I remember most
clearly with much appreciation
and affection was Esther Niles,
our drama and speech teacher.
She always gave the impression
that we could do well and
succeed and this is what she
expected of us. She was not
easy, but if you obtained a
compliment on performance it
meant a great deal as she had
high standards and praise from
her meant a lot.
She impressed me so much at that
time (remember this was the
40's) because she appeared to be
very independent in the way she
lived her life. I always had the
feeling she was very much her
"own person".
Many years later in 1990's I met
Miss Niles again when she was a
resident of a retirement
community and I was a volunteer
ombudsman there. She was still
as vital and interesting as ever
and had kept in touch with a
number of her students over the
years. Her intellect and
curiosity were as active as ever
and I later learned after her
death she donated her body to
Washington University. It did
not surprise me that she taught
to the end, and after.

they are missing!! If there’s
someone on the list that you
know the whereabouts of
(dead or alive) please email
us
the information, or have them
contact us. As you see
there are only a few classes with
people
missing. Most classes
have someone who takes the
initiative to keep their class
list current. While this is not an
easy task to undertake, it does
make the job
easier for
the Reunion
Committee. Check all the
classes, because
someone’s brother, sister, aunt,
uncle, parents or even neighbor,
might be
on the "Missing List". The list spans
a period of

FUNNIES
FOUND ON THE INTERNET |
SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES
THAT REALLY WORK
1.
If
you
are
choking
on
an
ice
cube
simply
pour
a
cup
of
boiling
water
down
your
throat.
Presto!
The

will
instantly
remove
itself.
2.
Avoid
cutting
yourself
slicing
vegetables
by
getting
someone
else
to
hold
while
you
chop.
4.
For
high
blood
pressure
sufferers:
simply
cut
yourself
and
bleed
for
a
few
minutes,
thus
reducing
the
pressure
in
your
veins.
Remember
to
use
a
timer.
5. A
mouse
trap,
placed
on
top
of
your
alarm
clock
will
prevent
you
from
rolling
over
and
going
back
to
sleep
after
you
hit
the
snooze
button.
6.
If
you
have
a
bad
cough,
take
a
large
dose
of
laxatives,
then
you
will
be
afraid
to
cough.
7.
You
only
need
two
tools
in
life
-
WD-40
and
Duct
Tape.
If
it
doesn't
move
and
should,
use
the
WD-40.
If
it
shouldn't
move
and
does,
use
the

With age comes wisdom...
A guy is
65 years old and loves
to fish. He was sitting
in his boat
the other day when he
heard a voice say, 'Pick
me up.'
He looked around and
couldn't see any one.
He thought he was
dreaming when he heard
the voice say again,
'Pick me up.' He looked
in the water and there,
floating on the top, was
a frog.
The man said, 'Are you
talking to me?'
The frog said, 'Yes,
I'm talking to you.
Pick me up. Then, kiss
me and I'll turn into
the most beautiful woman
you have ever seen.
I'll then give you more
sexual pleasure than you
ever could have
dreamed of.'
The man looked at the
frog for a short time,
reached over, picked it
up carefully, and placed
it in his front breast
pocket .
Then the frog said,
'What, are you nuts?
Didn't you hear what I
said?
I said kiss me and I
will give you sexual
pleasures like you have
never had.'
He opened his pocket,
looked at the frog and
said, 'Nah, at my age
I'd rather have a
talking frog.' |
